Why Venture Capital is a Probabilistic Game
But now Costco is unionizing. Costco will be gone in 20 years.
🥦🍅
Costco also doesn’t advertise.
If you have a costa gift card for 25. Can you go in and spend over 25 and pay the reminder with a visa with out a costa card.
And Costco pays its employees relatively well.
Horrible store . Every item is poor quality.
Except now employees are becoming Unionized and Costco prices will raise accordingly. 20 more years they will become Gemco.
😢
Costco is a shipping company. Your car is the final mile delivery vehicle. And your pantry is the final storefront.
Because permanent growth is a short route to a bubble
I buy cat litter, pre cooked bacon, chicken wings, microfiber towels, toilet paper, dog food, cheese, coffee creamer, steaks, sometimes a heatable Italian meal, salami and cheese, ham, nuts and when I see the cost per once of everything it's not always cheaper, decent quality. But the format of the store is why I shop there. There are 5+ stores in my city, and 2 in Northern Baja and often the management will open lots of check out lanes and you get out pretty quickly. I see many people browsing around and I do from time to time but I know the general layout of the store and can get multiple items, some fairly bulky in @20 minutes and to the car in another 5 minutes. All our stores have gas stations, including in Mexico and it's a little cheaper, no cash and hoses that reach to the other side of your car make it faster and cheaper. Nobody is messing around. Amazon is doing many many things differently, on top of deceptive price increases, Prime has mostly garbage for video so no value for me, the return policy has changed on many many, too many things and you need to be careful to check if it's eligible for free returns, which was a big benefit. And the delivery times have increased by 200-300% seldom is anything in one day. Most pet food service and Amazon is slower and not any cheaper.. rather buy in person.
Love my Amazon.
If you are an investor, you know how big it is. The late Charlie Munger largest position.
Welcome to Costco, I love you.
Let's be honest... Their hotdogs got them over the line 😋
Sam’s Club is nearly identical to Costco.
when you see the same products at Walmart it's watered down for instance Japanese Barbeque sauce
Defensible? What's to defend? Everyone I have ever talked to that worked there said the treat their employees great, and they keep a tight ship. It's called a sound business model.
And then there’s single folks like me for whom Costco is useless
I love Costco for big ticket items because their return policy let's me shop with confidence.
I love that you don't know the difference between let's and lets.
Why would you have to defend it?
It's essentially a wholesale shop that sells to customers with a trade card but with some staff that most wholesale stores would not have. Outside North America, this not exist as a shopping retail experience. In fact most would consider Walmart way too big, anonymous and what kills town shops so your local shops close up and your area is a ghost town. Then again, the trader shops from the wild west were not dissimilar bar self service
Its the hot dogs
When you don’t have to bother with making the product look lice just wheel the pallet to a spot and sell directly off the pallet it saves a ton of man hours. It makes the product cheeper and people generally get more.
Where? To the Chinese of course! They have MTK.
You pay well people won't have a problem doing more. They really take care of their employees.
I love Costco! Satisfied member right here.
All without commercials?!
Sam's club is pretty solid too
These guys don't know what they're talking about. Walmart doesn't mark up their price "a bunch." Look at Walmart's financials (something these guys obviously haven't done) and you'll see they net about 2 cents on every dollar of revenue.
thats what you get when you pay your employees well. They help you earn more with the system you built.
Thats easy: There are shelves to stock at COSTCO. They probably have more pallet jacks and stackers than people.
How do i get in on this?
Why does he say Hermes weird
Roaring Kitty is now in $BNED and $GME Barnes and Noble is the next squeeze. Friday they shorted 24 million shares and the r float is only 31 million. Absolutely insane
Costco also pays their employees a reasonable wage...
Produce molds quickly, it’s an hour away, furniture is expensive. Meat department is great, bulk item shopping is great
Costco is quality! That's what it is. 👍👍
all the fame and they still don’t have Scan and Go like Sams club . No waiting in line . Cosco sucks
I love Costco. It’s a fun experience and the employees are great. I go to two different costcos in my area. One thing I have noticed, for some reason, the people who shop there are the most toxic and pissed off people. I have seen several fights between customers and even more customers berating employees. It’s not even that crazy at the Walmarts in my area. It’s a strange phenomenon where I live. Haha.
I haven’t noticed THAT kind of customer at my Costco, rather my Costco has A LOT OF ARROGANT customers. They think because they buy rotisserie chickens and 48 eggs at a time, a long with a 4 year supply water, that they are better than everyone.
I've never seen one
I only shop at Costco because they actually treat the employees fairly
True. They'd be my first choice, but a Sam's club is much closer
Personally i find about 50% of products more expensive than supermarkets. I think the appeal is not only in the other half of things being somewhat cheaper but also the unique novelty of a lot of goods you just cant get elsewhere. All in a bit of a hit and miss for me
Costco and Wal*Mart have very different business models. Costco keeps a limited inventory, often seasonal only, whereas Sam’s Club keeps a large and highly varied inventory with high turnover. That makes negotiating for price and delivery contracts very different. One thing about Wal*Mart is that it operates as almost a corporate cult. It’s not like most companies and the work environment in the administration offices is very weird.
Their new board is going to make them just as terrible as every other store.
Math isn't matching. If 1/3 of Americans are members, how do they only have 124 million members? Unless 100% of members are Americans.
That $15 divvy!
I thought they had thousands of locations
Because they can and they’re not criminals.
Keep your mouth shut. They are very smart.
Barnes and Noble short squeeze a thing? I see 16% short interest but Friday it says 25 million shares were shorted. Have you taken a look at that one yet?
No chest pounding translates to happy employees. Less hype fewer customer complaints leading to fresh staff all shift.
